Clinical skills & knowledge

Since around July 2012, it has been an exciting time in social media and health, with the FOAMed and now FOAM4GP revolution taking place online.  FOAM stands for Free Open Access Meducation, so it is accessible for anyone, anywhere at anytime.  This term was coined in June 2012 in a Dublin pub during the 2012 International Conference on Emergency Medicine.  You can read more about this on the Life in the Fast Lane website which is a blog providing FOAMed for emergency medicine and critical care: http://lifeinthefastlane.com/.

Many doctors using Twitter now use the hashtag #FOAM or #FOAMed when posting an interesting educational pearl or link to a medical educational blog.

There was an interested group of GPs and GP registrars on Twitter more recently looking for more primary care-focussed FOAM goodness, culminating in the new http://foam4gp.com blog.
